Make this world a better place

In our readings in Deuteronomy, we have been reminded to hold fast to God’s commands and to His word. He has reminded us also about his heart.

Deut 10: 18, 19 says

“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt.”

The Irish philosopher, politician and statesman, Edmund Burke said this

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”

The Church, the body of Christ is the visible expression of the Kingdom of God. It is the expression of the heart of God and His hands and feet which touch and change lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. DUMC / CES  and Malaysian Care as well as many churches and NGOs in this nation had sought to make Malaysia a better place.

Edmund Chan said, “Think Big, Start Small, Build Deep” as a leadership and discipleship principle. That has been the same for us in CES, and for Malaysian Care. Malaysian Care has grown from a small NGO with local impact to the foremost Christian NGO in this nation especially in Prison, Drugs and Aids ministry, Special Needs ministry and Urban & Rural Development. CES is relatively new with only 10 years from incorporation, but our ministry through all the DUMC members had also grown substantially over the last 10 years.

We are organizing this conference and exhibition to showcase and create awareness for Christians and non-Christians alike on the services available for the different kinds of people in need because Christians take Jesus’ command seriously to care for the orphans and the widows, to love the aliens and to feed and clothe them.  We are to defend the cause of the marginalized and those without a voice, to set the oppressed free, and to bring healing and wholeness into lives. These ministries show the community that Christians care, and God cares about them and for them. God is concerned that they are hungry and thirsty, wounded or alone. God cares and sends us to be His hands and his feet.

We are therefore specially bringing in various FREE community services to help our family, friends and neighbours to serve them. This Community Services Fair is our platform to “Make this world a better place”!  Remember, evil prevails when good men do nothing!
