Building Distance: Through Disciplemaking, Continual Leadership Development In A Certain Culture

2012 Theme: Make disciples…multiply leaders (Mt. 28:19; 2 Tim. 2:1-7)

When we first launched the 5-year strategy of building depth, building distance and building destiny last year, the theme was “Presenting everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28). We envisage building depth through the three-fold strategy of the Word, prayer and ministry.

This year, 2012, DUMC’s strategy of Building Distance is through disciple-making and continual leadership development in a certain culture. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations and in 2 Timothy 2:2 we are called to multiply leaders.

To make disciples & multiply leaders in a certain kind of culture.

The culture DUMC seeks to cultivate

  • Humility
  • Holiness
  • Authenticity
  • Generosity
  • Faith
  • Courage
  • Servanthood

As the New Year brings excitement and new beginnings, let 2012 also be the year where the church rises up to take her place in our nation – to build God’s community and make known His glory.
